Our Story
LA Botanicals was founded with a single conviction: that the luxury hospitality and corporate sectors deserved a botanical partner with genuine expertise — not just aesthetic sensibility, but deep horticultural knowledge, rigorous sourcing standards, and an understanding of how living material behaves in demanding commercial environments.
Over eighteen years, we have developed botanical programs for some of the world's most recognized properties — from flagship hotel lobbies to corporate headquarters, private residences to event spaces. Each engagement has deepened our understanding of what it takes to make plants thrive in spaces that were not designed with them in mind.
The Reference Library is the natural extension of that practice — a way to share the knowledge we've accumulated with the designers, property managers, and procurement professionals who need it most.
Philosophy
01
We reject the impulse to fill space. Every stem, every leaf, every vessel is chosen because it belongs — not because it was available. Restraint is the highest form of luxury.
02
Plants are not props. They are living systems with specific needs, behaviors, and lifespans. We design with that reality, not against it — which is why our installations endure.
03
We have spent decades studying botanical science, horticultural practice, and design theory. The Reference Library exists to share that knowledge with the professionals who need it most.
04
Southern California is one of the world's great botanical regions. Its climate, its growers, and its design culture have shaped how we think about plants in space — and that perspective informs everything we do.
The Practice
Our studio operates at the intersection of horticultural science and spatial design. We work directly with growers, importers, and specialty nurseries to source material that meets our quality standards — which means we often work with varieties that are not available through conventional wholesale channels.
Every botanical program we develop is documented, monitored, and refined over time. We track what thrives, what struggles, and why — building a body of knowledge that informs both our client work and the resources we publish here.
Who We Serve
Our clients are the properties and organizations for whom botanical excellence is a non-negotiable expression of brand identity. We work with them on ongoing programs, one-time installations, and the knowledge resources their teams need to maintain standards between our visits.
